Sotogrande, the year in review 2018

Looking back over the past 12 months we can be pleased with another year of strong but sensible growth. Sales were strong, continuing on from a similar pattern in 2017, and the demand for both holiday and long-term rentals in Sotogrande continued to grow apace with the growing popularity of the area as a stylish, high-end destination. Sotogrande, it is fair to say, is enjoying a true renaissance, and it is one caused by a combination of renewed interest, a growing economy and of course the exciting developments within the resort itself.

Roads, parks and public facilities have been improved and beautified in recent years, hotels and beach clubs renovated, the La Reserva de Sotogrande country club greatly expanded and enhanced, new luxury villa and apartment projects launched, while the marina is now a hub of activity during the long summer season, filled with live music, entertainment, children’s play facilities and events, as well as quite frankly the most elegant market on the Costa del Sol.

The area is therefore buzzing, and interest in its villas, townhouses and apartments has been strong. Always an upmarket destination, Sotogrande is now also home to some of the most exquisite top-end villas in the country, and its stylish understatement, easy-going elegance and focus on family life and privacy, away from the madding crowds, has marked it out as a preferred home and holiday destination for a new brand of upmarket clientele.

We can therefore look back at an exciting year for Sotogrande, and this looks set to continue in 2019, when more beautification projects, the renovation of the Almenara resort hotel, new luxury developments and also further expansion of the ambitious plans at La Reserva de Sotogrande continue the path that Sotogrande has been on for a few years now. Prices will continue to rise, as indicated by a recent TINSA report, demand will consolidate further and Sotogrande will further confirm its role as a very credible lifestyle alternative to the glitz and glamour of nearby Marbella.

More exciting still is the fact that next year, Holmes Property Sotogrande will be celebrating 40 year in selling property in and around Sotogrande – and we have lots of exciting initiatives planned. Such as our 40th Anniversary limited Edition Postcards, so check out our website and the local press for details.

We look forward to welcoming you to Sotogrande in 2019, and please contact us if you would like more information about properties for sale in Sotogrande and surroundings.
